who are we?

We are long time racers, riders, explorers and adventurers, always seeking to escape the real grind of the work week.  We do this by simply going back to basics and getting away from it all... work, traffic, computers, TV, and stress.  We put on endurance events to help you escape too.

WHERE THE HELL IS CASTELL?

Castell is a hidden gem located in the heart of The Texas Hill Country on the Llano River, about 90 minutes west of Austin.  Check out the map on the CONTACT page.  All it takes is one visit to Castell and you will see why we picked this location to take your breath away.

IS THIS A RACE OR RIDE?

The CG is whatever you want to of make it.  If you've got a competitive spirit, let's see what you've got.  Race the course as fast as your legs can turn and your heart can pump.  Top 5 male and female in each distance will get awards.  If you are just in it for the adventure and survival, no problem as long as you make the cut off.  This is an endurance event, it will be very difficult.  Do not over estimate your ability or underestimate the difficulty of the course.

WHATS IS THE COURSE LIKE?

90% of the course will be rolling hills on remote gravel roads in the middle of nowhere.  The rest of the course will be on lightly traveled rolling farm roads in the middle of nowhere.  No single track on this course.  The course is desolate except for the occasional farm house.  The only refueling stop will be Castell.

WILL THE COURSE BE MARKED?

Don't count on it.  We will give you a map and directions at check in.  A course map will also be available on the website.  Outside maps are welcomed if they help you to stay on the course but if you use them to cut the course you will be disqualified.

SHOULD I BRING A GPS?

We highly recommended a GPS so you know where you are in case of an emergency and how far you have traveled.  Our clue sheet will measure mileage to checkpoints and turns.

IS THIS A SUPPORTED EVENT?

Simply put No.  You are on your own.  You need to carry enough food, water and gear for the entire course.  You must be self sufficient in all aspects of the race.

CAN MY SUPPORT CREW FOLLOW ME?

No.  We want to minimize all vehicle traffic on the course for your safety and to preserve the integrity of the remoteness of the race.

WHAT KIND OF BIKE SHOULD I RIDE?

Ride what you got, just stay away from skinny road tires.  They won't work out there.  Cyclocross or mountain bikes will do great.  The best size tire for this course will be 34c or larger.

CAN I REGISTER ON RACE DAY?

No.  Race day registration is way too hectic. Online registration opens November 1st and is limited to the first come first serve in each race.  We expect all races to sell out so register early to make sure you get in.

WHERE AND WHEN IS PACKET PICK UP?

Trek Shop in Austin TBA and on site in Castell at check in, Friday and Saturday.
